Flood Services Canada, the Greater Toronto Area’s leading 24-hour emergency flood, fire and smoke damage restoration response service team, is pleased to announce that it provides large discounts to those who do not file an insurance claim and to non-insured customers suffering from water or fire damage.
“For most people, a house is the largest single investment they will ever make and they want to keep it safe. Despite this fact, home insurance, unlike car insurance, is not mandatory by lawinCanada,” says Chad Vanvari, president and owner of Flood Services Canada. “And unfortunately, the structure and valuable assets are vulnerable to water, fire, and other damage.”
Vanvariexplains that water damage has surpassed fire as the leading cause of personal property claimsinCanada. Examples of water damage include flooding, broken pipes, leaking plumbing, sewer backup, and extreme weather. For those who are not insured, the recovery from fire and water damage is based on the homeowner’s own ability to pay for repairs and replace possessions.
To help anyone who is uninsured or does not have adequate coverage, Flood Services Canada provides a 25% discount for those whose property has suffered from water or fire damage. Flood Services Canada will also help out those clients who do not file an insurance claim, even if they have coverage.
“In the event that a client does not file an insurance claim, Flood Services Canada will reduce the standard insurance pricing by 25%,” Vanvari adds. “We will also forgo any profit and overhead charge; it’s standard practice on any water damage claimto applya 10% profit and 10% overhead charge before taxes.”
According to Vanvari, it is also common practice to charge an emergency dispatch fee, which can range anywhere from $150 to $300; Flood Services Canada will waive this fee for non-insured clients. In addition, Flood Services Canada will not charge overtime rates for work done on evenings, weekends, or holidays, compared to the industry standard of charging time-and-a-halflabourrates for work done any time between 7:00 p.m.and7:00 a.m., Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Flood Services Canada will also only charge a maximum of three days for daily equipment charges.
“These reductions and concessions usually cut a client’s bill by a third,” Vanvari concludes. “We understand that water damage can be very costly and want to do whatever we can to ensure homeowners receive proper and thorough water damage remediation in accordance with IICRC standards. This reduces the possibility of increased structural damage to the property and of potential health risks associated with mould growth.”
