Flood Services Canada, the Greater Toronto Area’s leading 24-hour emergency flood, fire, and smoke damage restoration response service team, is announcing the successful resolution of the recent flooding of a condominium in downtown Toronto.
The flood was caused by a damaged cap connected to the main water supply for the sprinkler system. The impact was widespread, as over 17 floors and 70 units were affected.
“It was a pretty bad situation,” says Chad Vanvari, owner of Flood Services Canada. “Emergency flood response is something we specialize in, but it’s always difficult knowing that this condominium flood didn’t need to happen.”
Mr.Vanvariexplains that the damage was caused by vandalism, not by an accident or natural disaster. The vandal’s actions forced many residents out of their homes until Flood Services Canada was able to address the flooding in each unit.
“I’m happy we were able to provide our services quickly and we did everything we could to restore the units impacted by flooding,” he adds. “We find it appalling that someone would deliberately cause this terrible situation, though we’re glad no one was hurt or worse.”
Mr.Vanvarinotes that it’s not often that the company handles a flooding that is intentional in nature. Rather, most of the emergency flood response comes from either weather-related damage, burst pipes or simple accidents.
“This is not a typical case and we’re not going to speculate as to why someone would want to intentionally start a flood throughout an entire apartment building; we’re just happy we were able to do our job and respond in a timely and effective manner and get people back into their homes as soon as possible,” Mr.Vanvariconcludes. “At Flood Services Canada, we have to consider a lot of factors beyond just the initial emergency response. We then have to try to find ways to restore the property in a cost-efficient manner that also adheres to all health and safety standards. We try our best not to remove a large quantity of affected building materials when it is avoidable; instead, we focus onthoroughlydrying them out. This lowers the overall cost of both our emergency flood damage and repair services for the consumer.”
