Flood Services Canada, the Greater Toronto Area’s leading 24-hour emergency flood, fire, and smoke damage restoration response service team, is weighing in on the heavy storms that occurred in late June. Flood Services Canada is also providing its top tips for preparing for such weather.
On Monday, June 20, Southwestern Ontario experienced heavy storms that were estimated to include about one month’s worth of rainfall at 47.7 mm, or close to 1.9 inches. The next morning, residents of London were reported to be faced with flooded streets and many businesses remained close for the day. ”That much rain was problematic, and there’s nothing stopping it from happening again,” says Chad Vanvari, owner of Flood Services Canada. “While water damage restoration companies do what they can for affected homeowners, they can’t be everywhere, so it’s better to be protected.”
Devices like wet vacuums, carpet dryers, and other appliances used in water drainage or damage restoration should be ready in the event of a storm. These devices all sold out quickly on June 21 following the storm. Homeowners should have the contact information of a reputable flood services company on hand in the event of a flood.
“For preventative measures, homeowners are encouraged to make sure their storm drains are clear of debris and to test their property’s sump pumps,” Vanvari concludes. “Simply pour some water into the pump pit and wait to see if it drains. It’s a very simple and beneficial thing to do.”
Flood Services Canada is a leader in flood remediation, mould removal, and other loss prevention techniques. The company also assists customers with insurance claims and special rates are offered for the uninsured.
