Flood Services Canada (www.FloodServices.ca), a leading quick-response company for water damage remediation, has finished implementing new lessons from the most recent Property Loss Restoration Expo held on November 16-18 in Toronto.
The Property Loss Restoration Expo is North America’s premier disaster restoration conference and expo. This year, Flood Service Canada’s full management team was in attendance, which saw property restoration leaders from across the country meet and share industry developments and innovations.
“The expo was a vast collection of knowledge, products, and key-note speakers,” recalls Chad Vanvari, the owner of Flood Services Canada. “Everything was covered: from techniques to technology to business.”
Of note during the Expo were discussions on climate change and how remediation companies can adapt to environmental changes. This included not only preparation for emergency situations, but also predictions about changing client needs.
“The need for remediation waxes and wanes depending on the weather and climate,” explains Vanvari. “Knowing how the climate is shifting and what kinds of weather are becoming the norms will let companies better prepare themselves and their staff.”
Other developments included techniques for improving proficiency and efficiency when using Xactimate, the industry’s leading product for estimating insurance costs. Remediation workers regularly need to assist with providing accounts to insurance companies and assisting clients in filing claims, so this has direct benefits for consumers.
Flood Services Canada also acquired some new methods of moisture mapping. Vanvari admits that, “It’s not the most exciting topic, but being able to map out and document water infiltration is crucial to protecting both the property and health of residents.”
The new techniques and methods come as Flood Services Canada gets ready for the winter season. Cold weather brings unique risks and sources of water damage that the company intends to meet head on.
Flood Services Canada is made up of several quick-response teams who are leaders in flood remediation, mould removal, and other loss-prevention techniques.
